Today, dentures come in many different shapes and sizes. While the general formula is the same – a bridge of fabricated teeth and synthetic gum tissue – there are many different ways to place and secure them. Dentures are typically made of a combination of plastic, ceramic porcelain and acrylic. These materials closely mimic those of your natural teeth and gums so dentures look, feel and function more like natural teeth than ever before.
Dentures can either be removable, like traditional dentures secured with denture adhesive, or fixed in place with the help of dental implants. Implant supported dentures offer unmatched stability and promote optimum jawbone health for a more secure fit and better function.
Dentures can help patients:
In many cases, patients considering dentures will still have some teeth remaining that will need to be extracted before we can place dentures. Traditionally, the extraction sites would need to heal completely before beginning the denture process. That means patients having to live with no teeth for a period of time – nobody wants, or deserves that.
Thankfully, with immediate dentures, we are able to extract teeth and place your new dentures the very same day! We begin the denture preparation process before your teeth are extracted, so you can avoid the pain and embarrassment of living without teeth.
We will first take digital impressions of your teeth and gums, as they are, to create digital models for your soon-to-be new smile. Your dentures will be created with high precision technology to ensure your dentures fit right the first time. When you come in for your extraction appointment, we will have your new dentures ready for you to be placed the same day.
Nobody should have to live without teeth. Immediate dentures help patients go from missing teeth to a brand new, beautiful smile the same day!
Our goal is always to keep your natural teeth healthy, and in your mouth for as long as possible. If you still have some healthy teeth remaining, we would love to leave those teeth intact, rather than extracting them. Partial dentures are an ideal solution for patients who have many missing teeth, with some healthy teeth remaining.
Partial dentures are similar to full dentures in that they have fabricated teeth and synthetic gum tissue, usually made from acrylic. The difference is they leave spaces for your natural teeth, so they require either a metal or acrylic support bar to hold the appliance together. Acrylic is usually used for temporary partials, while metal is generally used for the final product, as metal is more biocompatible – structurally superior, thinner, and more hygienic than acrylic.
Partial dentures are a great way to support the remaining teeth and keep them from moving. Partial dentures restore balance to your smile, allowing you to enjoy a healthy diet with ease, regain normal speech patterns, and flash a full, confident smile that looks, feels and functions naturally.
There are many benefits in replacing missing teeth and stabilizing dentures with dental implants, including:
Dental implants are the most recommended tooth replacement solution today – by doctors and patients alike. That’s because traditional tooth replacements (bridges, partials, and dentures) that sit on top of the gums only replace the crown or the visible portion of the tooth. They do nothing to replace the tooth root beneath the surface of the gums. Enter dental implants.
Dental implants are typically made from titanium and are small screws or posts that are surgically inserted into the gums and jawbone to replace a missing tooth. Once the healing process begins, dental implants actually become fused into the jawbone, stimulating new bone and tissue growth around the implant and becoming a fully integrated, fully functioning component of your oral health structure.
Once healed, Dr. Gauthier can fit your implant with a beautiful set of dentures to complete and secure your smile.
OsteoReady implants are conventional implants, specifically designed to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth or to secure an existing partial or denture for a more stable and comfortable fit. OsteoReady implants allow your partial or denture to snap on or screw into place.
If you are not a candidate for or may have trouble affording OsteoReady traditional implants, we may still have a solution for you with mini implants. Mini implants are smaller than traditional implants, so they require less jawbone density to place and are generally a more affordable option. Mini implants cannot replace a single tooth but can serve as anchors for bridges, partials or dentures.

If you’re missing most or all of your natural teeth and are considering dentures for the first time, or are living with traditional dentures that are getting in the way of your life, we would love to help you secure your smile with implant supported dentures. Implant supported dentures offer all of the functional, health and aesthetic benefits of dental implants, while securely locking your dentures in place for the most life-like solution.
We offer a snap on denture option which is to be removed nightly for cleaning and soaking. We also offer a permanent implant denture option that screws the denture into place. This option does not have to be removed for cleaning, and should only be removed by your Pineville dentist. This is the most secure, life-like way to replace a full arch. The number of implants and the way they are attached will depend on your individual case.
Implant dentures are sleeker and much less invasive than traditional dentures that have a lot of synthetic gum tissue and cover the roof of your mouth. Implant supported upper dentures don’t cover the roof of your mouth, so it feels more natural and allows you to taste and sense the temperature of your food better.
Implant supported dentures are the most secure, most life-like way to replace missing teeth and gain freedom from removable appliances for the best fit, function, and aesthetics
